UCPN-Maoist to hold talks with parties across political spectrum for implementation of Nepal’s new constitution

The UCPN-Maoist has decided to hold talks with all political parties of Nepal, pointing that national consensus and unity are a must for implementation of the new constitution.

Friday’s meeting of the Maoist standing committee decided to hold talks with the Nepali Congress, Madhesh-centric parties and Janajati parties, concluding that only through national consensus and national unity can Nepal’s problems be resolved.

Talking to mediapersons at the residence of Maoist Chair Prachanda after the meeting, Maoist General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara said: We will discuss the matter with the Nepali Congress and other parties that are not in the government. We will also discuss the issue with Janajati and Madheshi parties.

We have arrived at this conclusion, that national consensus and national unity are a must for implementation of the constitution, Mahara said.

Mahara informed that the meeting decided to expedite talks for unification of Maoist parties.
