Kathmandu, July 18
Nepali U-19 spinners restricted their Malaysian counterparts to a small total to secure a second win for their side in the youth World Cup qualifiers being played in Singapore.
Having won the toss, Nepal put Malaysia to bat first and restricted them to 58 runs in 25.5 overs. While skipper and leggie Sandeep Lamichhane claimed five wickets for a second match in a row, another spinner Pawan Sarraf took three crucial wickets.
However, Nepal could chase down the target only after losing half of its batting lineup. Victory came in 9.5 overs with the loss of five wickets.
Pranit Thapamagar and Rohit Kumar Paudel were at the crease when Nepal finished the match with a win.
Nepal beat hosts Singapore on Monday by 4 wickets. The tournament also features Afghanistan. With only one spot up for grabs for the World Cup, the Nepal-Afghanistan contest on Thursday is likely to decide who claims the top spot. Nepal will face Singapore, Malaysia and Afghanistan again in the second round of the tournament.
