Two Indian pilgrims killed in Rautahat collision

Two persons died when a bus and a truck collided in Paurai of Rautahat district along the East Wet Highway in the wee hours of Tuesday

Nine persons have sustained injuries when the truck (Ko 1 Kha 2625) hit the bus (Na 6 Kha 9030) at around 12:45 am, according to the District Police Office.

The bus, heading towards Janakpur from Kathmandu, was carrying around 60 Indian pilgrims. Both the victims–Bijaya Kumar Jena (52) and Charan Bishal (54)–were members of the pilgrims’ team from Odisha of India.

Both breathed last on the spot. Their bodies have been kept at the District Hospital.

Meanwhile, six injured are undergoing treatment at Chandrapur of the district. Three have been referred to Birgunj, according to DSP Nabin Karki of the District Police Office.

When it was hit by the truck moving towards the same direction, the bus was stationary.

The truck driver is on the run since the accident and police have launched a manhunt.
