Toxic liquor kills six Nepalis in Malaysia

Kathmandu, September 19

Six Nepali migrant workers have died after reportedly consuming toxic liquor in Selangor of Malaysia, reports Nepali Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Other Nepalis have been taken ill, according to Acting Nepali Ambassador Kumar Raj Kharel. Some of them are said to be critical.

They are undergoing treatment at various health institutions in the country.

Kharel informs that five had breathed last while undergoing treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital whereas the other one was declared dead at Kajang Hospital.

It has been learned that the workers had indulged themselves in drinking and merrymaking on a public holiday. They had experienced problems in breathing and vomiting immediately after the gathering. They were rushed to the hospital without delay.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Embassy has mobilised two teams to facilitate the treatment of Nepalis, according to Kharel.

He said he also visited some of the hospitals.
