Three ‘socket bombs’ target Arun III headquarters office

Kathmandu, June 13

An unidentified group exploded three improvised explosive devices targeting the office of Arun III hydropower project in Tumlingtar of Khandbari-9 in Sankhuwasabha district last night.

The ‘socket bombs’ exploded in a catweed bush near the office at around 12:45 am.

However, no casualties were reported.

“There is a road above the headquarters. On the northern side of the road, there is a maize farm. We have come to know that the bombs were thrown by someone hidden in the maize field,” said Chief District Officer, Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari.

Adhikari further informed that search for the attackers was underway. “We have suspected that someone came from Bhojpur, exploded the bombs, and returned to Bhojpur. We are searching for the attacker.”

Earlier, an explosion had occurred at the compound wall of the project during the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit last month.
