Kathmandu, November 14

Federal Allliance has given the Prachanda government 15 more days to register a Constitution amendment proposal by taking it into confidence.

The Upendra Yadav-headed alliance gave this ultimatum while issuing a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at Singhadurbar on Monday.

Handing over the memorandum, Yadav said the government should register a Constitution amendment proposal in the Parliament only after reaching an understanding with them. He asked the government to take 15 more days than registering such a proposal in Karthik-end (mid-November). The government should sort out the issue of border demarcation here and now, adding that the proposal on forming a commission for demarcation will not be acceptable.

In response, Prime Minister Prachanda said he is preparing to register an amendment proposal within a few days. Prachanda said he had wanted to register the proposal about four days ago, but changed his plan as Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba asked him to wait till the general convention of Tarun Dal is over.

PM Prachanda said it will not be possible to register an amendment proposal by reaching an all-party understanding. Prachanda promised to bring out a proposal acceptable to all, reminding that he was once coordinator of a 30-party front that also included Madheshi parties.
