Taiwanese youth rescued from Nepal snow celebrates birthday at hospital

Kathmandu, April 28

A Taiwanese youth who was found on Wednesday after missing in a remote village of Dhading district of Nepal for 47 days celebrated his 22nd birthday at a Kathmandu-based hospital on Friday.

Liang Shang Yuen was rescued from an altitude of 2,600 metres while the rescuers found the body of Liu Chen Chun (19), his girlfriend, near the place he was lying under the snow.

State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Parashu Ram Tamang also attended the birthday celebration at the Grande International Hospital in Kathmandu.

The hospital had managed a chocolate-and-cheese cake after the youth wished to mark his birthday in style.

Dozens of mediapersons had also thronged the Dhapasi-based hospital to hear experiences of his miserable-cum-adventurous survival in past one-and-half months.

The duo had fallen into a gorge after slipping on the snow in Tipling of Dhading district on their way to Langtang Valley in March second week.
