Sushil, Baburam stoking Tarai strife: Maoist leader Rayamajhi

Parbat, January 15. UCPN-Maoist leader and Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has accused Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and coordinator of the new force creation campaign, Baburam Bhattarai, of instigating the Madhesh movement.

Rayamajhi said this at a programme in Parbat on Friday. Describing the two as ‘scholars’, Rayamajhi said their designs to reap benefits from the Madhesh movement and the Indian blockade will not succeed.

“Sushilji is trying to become prime minister again. Baburam is striving to launch an industrial revolution by raising the issues of Madheshi and Tharu communities. But their designs will not work,” he said.

Rayamajhi said the KP Oli government is trying to end the Madhesh movement and the blockade within two weeks. The governemnt is doing homework to incorporate the United Democratic Madheshi Front’s demands by amending the new constitution, he said, adding that the fuel crisis will end soon.

He claimed that both India and the UDMF became aware of rising nationalist sentiments in Nepal after the Indian blockade.

Responding to Maoist workers’ queries, Rayamajhi said he will take initiatives to make not only Parbat, but the entire Dhaulagiri zone, load-shedding-free pretty soon.

In a different context, he said several Maoist parties have no option but to become one. “Not long ago, the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress had split. But they have become one. Unity is the only option that the Maoist parties have.”

Right now, final discussions for unity are on with the Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist, he informed, adding that UCPN-Maoist Chair Prachanda is striving to unite the Maoist parties.
