Minister of State for Education Shesh Nath Adhikari has said the ninth amendment to the Education Act has also paved the way for opportunities for those energetic youths who have obtained teaching licence.

Defending the recent amendment that has drawn widespread criticism, Minister Adhikari said the amendment had given justice to all. Incapable temporary teachers would be ousted through it, he claimed.

Talking to media here today, he said, “Those temporary teachers failing to secure 40 marks in the test will be given a goodbye with a golden handshake scheme.”

There are around 26,000 temporary teachers across the country. Of them 10,500 have already applied for the golden handshake scheme, informed the State Minister.

State Minister Adhikari said that the Teacher Service Commission would appoint new teachers through examinations every year, while preparations were underway for holding examinations in this regard between Dashain and Tihar.
