Six amendment proposals on govt’s policy and programme

Six proposals have been registered seeking amendment to the policy and programme for the fiscal year 2018/19. The government had presented the policy and programme in Parliament on Monday.

Total 17 lawmakers of the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, presented the amendment proposals which state that honorific words were not used while referring to the Speaker and the National Assembly Chair in the document.

Meanwhile, Surendra Kumar Yadav, Renuka Gurung, Pradip Yadav and Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav of the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal have called for incorporating the point, ‘The constitution will be amended on the basis of national consensus” in the government’s policy. Similarly, they have demanded that the government add the line, ‘This government shall remain steadfast in the protection, consolidation and the right use of the federal democratic republic, proportional inclusion, territorial autonomy and self-governance, inclusive democracy and secularism,’ instead of ‘shall remain steadfast in the protection, consolidation and right use of democracy’.

MPs Anil Kumar Jha and Laxman Lal Karna of the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal have proposed amendment to various provisions of the policy.

Total 23 lawmakers from various parties have registered amendment proposals on more than 16 points of the government’s policy and programme.
