Police in Siraha of south-eastern Nepal have arrested a man on the charge of attempted rape of a five-year-old girl.
The suspect has been identified as Shatrughna Yadav of Laxmipur, Bishnupur rural municipality-5 of the district.
Investigators say he had attempted to rape the child at a mango garden near his house, but the child gave him a push before she ran away.
A team deployed by the District Police Office arrested him based on a complaint filed by the alleged victim’s family, according to SP Uma Shankar Panjiyar.
Further investigation is underway.
