Kathmandu, February 27

Nepal has appointed Shreedhar Khatri as its new ambassador to the United States.

A statement issued by the President’s Office says President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed him upon a recommendation from the cabinet as per article 282 of the constitution.

Earlier, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee in December 2021 had approved nominations made by the government for appointing new ambassadors to India, the United States and the United Kingdom.

A meeting of the panel representing members of both houses in the parliament had approved Shankar Sharma as the ambassador to India, Shreedhar Khatri to the US and Gyan Chandra Acharya to the UK.

Whereas Acharya has already been appointed to the position and begun working, Sharma is yet to be appointed probably because the government is yet to receive an agrément from his host country.
