(Updated) Gulmi microbus accident death toll reaches nine

A microbus that met with an accident in Gulmi, on Monday, October 30, 2017.

The death toll of the microbus accident in Birbas of the district has reached nine.

Six persons had died on the spot while three succumbed to injuries while being taken to the Palpa Mission Hospital for treatment.

The victims–three women and six men–are yet to be identified.

Eight injured are undergoing treatment at the same health facility.

The vehicle had 17 passengers including the driver.

Seven killed, six hurt as microbus falls off Gulmi road

Gulmi, October 30

At least seven persons died when a microbus carrying passengers from Butwal of Rupandehi district to Tamghas of Gulmi fell off the road in Birbas of Gulmi on Monday afternoon.

Other six persons sustained injuries as the vehicle (Ba 4 Kha 5501) fell around 300 metres down the road in Gulmi Darbar Rural Municipality-4 today.

SP Anurag Kumar Dwibedi says the victims and injured are yet to be identified.

Chief District Officer Gopal Aryal says police personnel and locals are rescuing the injured. He adds that they will be airlifted for treatment if need be.

It has been learned that the vehicle had 15 passengers including the driver. Two are missing and the search operation is on.

The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
