Kathmandu, July 28

The CPN-UML has intensified its publicity activities in eight districts of Province 2 as the date for local level elections approaches near.

The government is holding local polls in Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts on September 18.

Earlier, the Central Secretariat of the party had decided to send its office-bearers to Terai districts and solicit votes in the party’s favour.

The party has decided to open secretariats in three major cities of the Province–Janakpur, Lahan and Birgunj–to effectively carry out poll campaigning.

Whereas General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel has been leading the overall campaign, he is also looking after Parsa. The party has instructed Deputy General Secretary duo Bishnu Paudel and Ghanashyam Bhusal to concentrate on Bara and Rautahat districts respectively. Secretaries Yogesh Bhattarai, Gokarna Bista, Bhim Acharya, Prithvi Subba Gurung and Pradeep Gyawali have been assigned for Dhanusha, Sarlahi, Saptari, Mahottari and Siraha districts respectively.

In-charge and deputy in-charge of the party for Province 2, Satya Narayan Mandal and Nagendra Chaudhary, have been directed to prepare for polls from the provincial office.
