Kathmandu, May 10

The National Examinations Board has decided to postpone the final examinations of the grades X (Secondary Education Examinations) and XII scheduled to be held later this month and the next month citing the surge in the Covid-19 cases in the country.

It is not immediately known when the exams will take place next.

A meeting of the board officials held this morning made the decision to put off the exams until the next decision as the situation is turning more critical every day, the board’s chairperson Chandra Mani Paudel informs after the meeting.

Meanwhile, the board has also assigned some of its members to prepare a model for conducting the examinations in the next 15 days, based on which the board will take the next decision.

Last year also, the exams were postponed due to the virus outbreak and later schools were assigned to give scores to their students which the board verified. The schools’ evaluations were found to be apparently inflated and hence not fair.
