Government to launch grade 11 admission campaign from June 15

With the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) now published, the Grade 11 admission campaign is set to begin on June 15. This time, because the board published results within a single month, admissions will also open earlier than usual.

Some schools have already begun accepting applications, both online and in person, from the very day after the SEE results were announced.

Meanwhile, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has also opened its online scholarship application form. However, the teaching and examinations for Grade 11 of the previous academic session are not yet complete. The fact that a single school now has to manage two batches simultaneously has left students and parents confused.

The question remains: how will this pressure be managed smoothly, conducting the annual examinations for existing students, starting classes for newly admitted students, and doing all this as scholarship deadlines draw near?

Education stakeholders are claiming that the confusion seen in previous years regarding Grade 11 admissions and teaching will not occur this time.

Lok Bahadur Bhandari, former Secretary General of the Higher Secondary and Secondary Schools Association Nepal (HISSAN), praised the government’s latest management approach and examination schedule.

He stated that students and parents should not face any confusion this time around. He expressed confidence that since the Grade 12 examinations have concluded on time, the overall admission process will be orderly.

“This step by the government is appreciative,” says Bhandari. “Compared to before, we feel that the admission process and academic management have become much smoother. Now that Grade 12 examinations are also finished, there will be no disorder or confusion of any kind regarding student admissions.”

He added, “This time, there will be no confusion among students, and classes will begin on schedule.”

Similarly, Krishna Adhikari, Chairman of the Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation (PABSON), while sharing information about the timetable for the upcoming academic session, made it clear that classes will begin from the very first week of mid-June. He said schools are working hard to make the admission process as smooth as possible.

Sharing details about the upcoming teaching schedule, Adhikari said, “We are preparing to begin Grade 11 classes from mid-June. We plan to take admissions first and then immediately start running classes. This will mean that the problem of teaching being delayed later on, as happened in the past, will not arise.”

He also said that there is no confusion whatsoever regarding student admissions, and that schools are committed to moving the academic session forward on time.

The Ministry of Education has completed its internal groundwork in its final stages and is preparing to formally announce its decision within a few days.

According to Rudra Prasad Adhikari, Under-Secretary at the School Education Division of the Ministry of Education, the ministry has put forward this plan to prevent delays in the academic session and to ensure that students’ learning process moves ahead on time.

Regarding the admission campaign, Under-Secretary Adhikari said, “The ministry is preparing to open new admissions from June 15.”

He added that the formal decision on this will be made within a few days.
