2 Maoist leaders killed in road accidents in Rupandehi and Gorkha

Kathmandu, November 24

Two leaders affiliated with the CPN-Maoist Centre died in different road accidents in the Rupandehi and Gorkha districts of western Nepal.

Ram Prasad Banjade, a central committee member of the party, died after being hit by a bus in Jitgadhi of Rupandehi yesterday. Seriously injured in the accident last night, Banjade breathed his last during treatment this morning, according to police.

Likewise, Suwarna Devkota, the coordinator of the party’s student wing in the Palungtar rural municipality in Gorkha died in a scooter accident in Bhansar of the adjoining Tanahun district.

His two-wheeler (Na 6 Kha 9134) was hit by a bus (Ba 45 Pa 238) yesterday.

Seriously injured in the accident, he died while being taken to the Damauli Hospital for treatment, according to SI Dambar Chhetri of the Bhanu Area Police Office.

Drivers responsible for both the accidents have been arrested for further investigation.
