RJPN General Secretary Raya defecting to UML

Lawmaker Jangilal Yadav

Sarlahi, September 7

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal’s General Secretary and lawmaker Jangilal Raya is defecting to the CPN-UML. Expressing dissatisfaction over the selection of candidates, Raja had announced he had quit the RJPN recently.

Raya had decided to leave the party as two members of the RJPN presidium, Rajendra Mahato and Mahendra Raya Yadav, chose their favourites for the third round of local level elections in Province 2 scheduled for September 18.

Jangilal had demanded with the RJPN that candidates for chiefs and deputies in Bishnu Rural Municipality, Brahmapuri Rural Municipality and Kabilasi Municipality be chosen by him.

Now, the UML has convinced him that the party would give tickets to people recommended by him in these local units.

“I will support the party which my cadres choose to contest from. Then, I will soon join the UML.”

UML Sarlahi district chair Rewati Panta confirms Jangilal’s plan to join the UML. He says a function will be organised in the presence of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal to bring him to the party.

Jangilal was elected to Parliament from Sarlahi-5.
