Weather alert: Rising temperatures taking a heavy toll on eastern Tarai districts

Garmi-RikshwaDhanusha, April 30

The mercury has been soaring in eastern Tarai districts, including Dhanusha, taking a heavy toll on normal life.

The scorching heat is not the only woe facing the Tarai people. High and hot winds blowing in the flatlands have accentuated the risk of fire in human settlements. These adverse weather conditions have affected horticulture and vegetable farms. Farm and other labourers are finding it hard to work in adverse weather conditions.

With the changing weather, more and more children are taking ill.

According to Dhanusha district agriculture office, hot winds have affected vegetable farms.

Due to adverse weather conditions, schoolchildren are finding it hard to attend school, just two weeks after the new academic session began.

In rural areas, with the rise in temperatures, smallpox is affecting an increasing number of children under five.
