(updated) Returning officer goes incommunicado in Bajura

Update 1400hrs : Returning Officer Premraj Giri arrived at the office of the Chief Returning Officer and formally remitted the ballot boxes.

A returning officer who conducted polling at Bangpani Centre of Malika Secondary School at Pandavgufa Rural Municipality in Bajura district has gone incommunicado from Monday.

According to local officials, officer Prem Raj Giri was last seen near Porkhe area of the district.

Police Inspector Jagdish Bhatta said that Giri went out of contact while returning to the district headquarters after conducting polling on Sunday.
Giri is an official at the Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Zone Programme. Police said that a search for the missing is underway.

Ballot boxes from the Bangpani Polling Centre have been kept outside the office of the Chief Returning Officer in Martadi, the district headquarters in the absence of Giri.
