Republic Day: Government confers awards on 514 persons

 

Kathmandu, May 29

The government has decided to confer awards and medals of various degrees on as many as 514 persons on the occasion of Republic Day on Monday.

Former Prime Minister BP Koirala has been posthumously awarded with the Nepal Ratna. Likewise, late Nepali Congress leader Mahendra Narayan Nidhi has been given the Rastra Gaurav title.

Five persons have received Mahaujjwal Rastradeep whereas Parliament Secretariat’s General Secretary Manohar Prasad Bhattarai is the single person to receive the Ujjwal Kirtimaya Rastradeep.

Eight persons including Supreme Court justices Gopal Parajuli and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Commission for the Investigation of Aubse of Authority Chief Deep Basnyat, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav, Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi and Army Chief Rajendra Chhetri have received Sukirtimaya Rastradeep.

  • Shaurya Padak: 14
  • Prakritik Prakop Piditoddhar Padak: 3
  • Bikash Ratna Padak: 5

The President will confer the awards on the winners.
