Kathmandu, May 29

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed dignifying and respecting republican institutions and their organs.

In his National Republic Day speech on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said people’s activities that disrespect institutions with own representation could not be considered democratic.

“In order to institutionalise republicanism and reflect it on meaningful practice of people, republican institutions and their organs should be dignified and respected,” he stated.

“I have been saying that republicanism is not only a political system, it is also an arrangement of holistic social transformation. Welfare and happiness of all is the essence of our republic. We have taken a vow to end the helplessness that keeps people’s faces sad.”

President Bidya Devi Bhandari among other state officials were present at the function organised at Tundikhel this morning.
