Put NSU election process on hold, else we’ll boycott it: Team Poudel to Sher Bahadur Deuba

Kathmandu, August 14

The Ram Chandra Poudel camp within the Nepali Congress has called party leadership to stop the process of electing leadership of the party-aligned Nepal Students’ Union for now.

The appeal comes at a time when registration of candidacies for NSU leadership positions is about to begin. The camp issued this call after a meeting held at the residence of former NC general secretary Prakash Man Singh, in Kathmandu, on Sunday. It has accused the party leadership of including even fake representatives in the name of conducting the NSU general convention as per the NSU statute.

‘The list that the party published yesterday is disappointing. It does not even include names that should naturally have been there.’

NSU leader Manoj Mani Acharya told Onlinekhabar: “The list that the party published yesterday is disappointing. It does not even include names that should naturally have been there.

The camp has threatened to boycott the election process if the party leadership pays no heed to its concerns.

Dipak Bhattarai, a contender for the post of NSU president, told Onlinekhabar: We have informed party President Sher Bahadur Deuba that we will not let the GC take place if the party leadership does not amend the list of candidates comprising fake candidates. We will launch a hunger strike if the party does not make amends.

Bhattarai said they have given the party a day to correct the name list.
