
Prithvi Jayanti has been observed with various programmes across the country. Every year, the 27th of Poush is marked as Prithvi Jayanti to honour Prithvi Narayan Shah, the leader of the unification of modern Nepal.
As part of the celebrations, floral tributes were offered at the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah located near the western gate of Singha Durbar, the country’s main administrative complex.

President Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice President Ram Sahay Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal, Vice Chairperson Bimala Ghimire, various government ministers, leaders and cadres of different political parties, and well-wishers paid floral tributes at the site.

A large number of leaders and cadres from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, including party chair Rajendra Lingden and former chair Kamal Thapa, as well as royalist supporters, were also present at the event.
