President Bidya Devi Bhandari will be going on a state visit to Japan next month. She is visiting Nepal’s longtime development partner upon an invitation from Japanese emperor Naruhito.
The visit date is yet to be announced officially. However, sources say it will take place in the last week of October. She will be going after the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal. Xi is due to arrive in Nepal in the second week of October.
While Nepal was a monarchy, the Japanese and Nepali royal families shared very good relations. It will be the first visit of a Nepali head of state to Japan after the abolishment of the monarchy in 2008.
