President tells PM to fix temporary provincial capitals

L-R: Sher Bahadur Deuba and Bidya Devi Bhandari

Kathmandu, January 8

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday told Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to name temporary capitals of seven provinces as soon as possible.

Bhandari’s suggestion follows the government’s plan to skip naming the provincial capitals as people in various cities launched protests demanding that their own places be named capitals.

But, during a meeting held at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, today, Bhandari said naming provincial funds would be easier for people, according to PM’s press coordinator Govinda Pariyar.

The President’s Bhesh Raj Adhikari also says the President told Deuba to fix capitals in consultation with all parties.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister briefed the President about preparations being made for the National Assembly polls.
