Kathmandu, October 29
The deadline given by the Election Commission to make corrections in their closed list of proportional representation candidates for upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary elections is expiring today.
Though the parties submitted their closed list for the House of Representatives and seven provincial assemblies on October 15, the Commission had given them the time till today to revise and correct the list to ensure all population clusters are proportionally represented.
Commission spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal says the corrected lists can be submitted by 5 pm today.
Meanwhile, major political parties are holding 11th hour meetings to finalise the corrections and meet the deadline.
If any PR candidate wishes to withdraw the names, they can do so on Monday, according to the Commission.
The constitutional body will publish the list on November 3. After completing necessary investigations into the names and addressing complaints against them, the final list will be published on November 19.
