Police ordered to arrest people defying compulsory mask rule

Kathmandu, July 6

The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered Nepal Police to arrest people who are seen outside their houses without wearing masks.

The ministry says the risk of coronavirus infection has not decreased yet though the lockdown imposed to control the outbreak has been partially relaxed.

As the lockdown was eased last month, the human movement has increased in urban areas, posing everyone at the risk of infection. Therefore, the order has been made to arrest them and take action as per the Infectious Disease Act, 1964, according to the ministry’s information officer Uma Kanta Adhikari.

Meanwhile, the ministry has urged the public not to go out of their houses unless they have any emergency work.
