Adipurush

Kathmandu, June 19

After Kathmandu metropolitan city, Pokhara has also decided to ban the screening of Adipurush until the makers correct the controversial dialogue in the film.

Mayor Dhanraj Acharya has written to all film halls within the metropolis asking them to stop the screening of the film.

The film has been heavily criticised in Nepal. Kathmandu Mayor, Balen Shah had given the film a three-day ultimatum to remove the dialogue whose essence states Janaki (Sita) is India’s daughter.

As the film did not correct the statement, Kathmandu metropolitan city banned the screening of all Indian films in the city from Monday.

The film has not removed the statement. Instead, the Adipurush’s writer Manoj Muntashir stated Nepal was part of India till 1903 giving further fuel to the fire.
