Kathmandu, September 4

The CPN-UML has made it clear that it has not taken any money from the state treasury for the current visit of party Chair KP Sharma Oli to Thailand. The UML clarification comes amid claims that the state is footing UML Chief Oli’s medical trip to the Southeast Asian nation.

Krishna Gopal Shrestha, secretary at the UML Central Office, said rumours about Oli embarking on the foreign visit after receiving funding from the state treasury are baseless. He said the UML has arranged the visit by mobilising Oli’s private resources.

The UML has also challenged all concerned to prove that Oli took money from the state treasury for his foreign visit. Shrestha noted that then government footed Oli’s medical bills when he fell ill before becoming prime minister.
