Parliamentary committee tells Karnali to purchase 10 ambulances, hearses

A meeting of Karnali Provincial Legislation Committee

Surkhet, June 6

A parliamentary committee in Karnali has directed the provincial disaster management centre to purchase at least 10 ambulances and necessary hearses for the province.

Taking into consideration that the province has been a ‘red zone’ with the growing number of Covid-19 cases, the purchase of vehicles should be made as a necessary preparation for the spread of the virus and its consequences, the Legislation Committee of the Provincial Assembly decided.

The committee has further directed the provincial government to increase the number of health workers and establish another polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine to increase the perimetre of tests within the province and in nearby areas.

Furthermore, the committee has suggested that the federal government should mobilise trained personnel of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force in the quarantine camps and isolation wards for better management.
