Only 16 per cent of annual capital expenditure spent in 7 months

The government has only spent 16 per cent of the capital expenditure in the seven months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Financial Comptroller General Office, only Rs 60.78 billion had been spent by the government as of February 12. This is only 16.08 per cent of the budget assigned for capital expenditure.

The government has set aside Rs 378.09 billion for capital expenditure this year. The government, however, cut down the proposed capital expenditure budget to Rs 340.32 billion after realising that not all of it will be spent.

According to the Comptroller General Office, Rs 591.02 billion has been spent out, of which Rs 475.62 billion was recurring expenditure.
