Once again, President involves herself in NCP dispute

L-R: Bidya Devi Bhandari and Bamdev Gautam

Kathmandu, November 4

Notwithstanding criticisms in the past, President Bidya Devi Bhandari once again has got herself involved in the internal dispute of the ruling Nepal Communist Party.

Bhandari met the party’s vice-chairperson Bamdev Gautam on Tuesday evening, urging him to make efforts towards saving the party unity. Gautam’s press coordinator Bishwa Mani Subedi says the head of the state invited Gautam for a meeting.

Bhandari’s urge comes at a time when media reports have said two chairpersons of the party–KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal–are pondering the option of party split as differences between them could not subside.

“You have been active in saving the party unity in the past also. You should play the same role now,” Subedi quotes the president as telling Gautam.

In response, Gautam said he would make as many efforts as he can.
