Biratnagar, October 25

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Ishwar Pokharel has said there’s no agreement between the two chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) regarding a change in the government’s leadership.

Talking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport this morning, Pokharel, considered an ally of PM Oli, made it clear that no such agreement was reached between the two chairmen during the time of the merger between the then UML and Maoist Centre.

Pokharel, who is also the acting Prime Minister, added that the two chairmen have been meeting daily and holding discussions on party matters.

Commenting over media reports about disputes between the two chairs, he claimed that the reports were false.

Pokharel also made it clear that the government would not hold talks with the Biplav-led group until the splinter group decided to drop their demands. He added that anyone wishing to join the mainstream of politics was always welcome.

When asked about the vacant position of the Speaker, Pokharel said that the party hadn’t discussed it yet.
