
Kathmandu, March 7
The Kanchanpur District Attorney’s Office has filed cases against erstwhile Kanchanpur Police SP Dilli Raj Bista and six other police officials accused of with destroying evidence and torturing suspects in connection with the Nirmala Pant Murder Case.
The criminal cases were filed after Nirmala Pant’s mother Durga Devi Pant accused police of destroying evidence related to the murder of her daughter. The other case was filed after Khadag Bista, the brother of Dilip Singh Bista, the prime accused in the case, accused police of torturing his sibling.
Those accused along with SP Bista are DSP Angur GC, Inspector Ekendra Khadka and Jagadish Bhatta, sub-inspectors Hari Singh Dhami and Ram Singh Dhami and police constable Chandani Saud. The court has begun recording their statements today.
According to police spokesperson Uttam Subedi, six of the seven accused are under police custody in Kanchanpur.
