Nijgadh airport project: Govt spending Rs 4 billion to relocate human settlement

Tangiya Basti will also be a part of the proposed international airport in Nijgadh.

The government has begun preparations to relocate the human settlement of Tangiya in Jitpur Simara Submetropolitan City-16 of Bara district so as to begin construction works for the proposed international airport in Nijgadh.

It has been estimated that Rs 4 billion would be spent to relocate 1,476 families living there. After the relocation, the airport will get sufficient space for its runway.

The Airport Project Office says three places have been shortlisted as potential areas for the relocation. They are Piluwa of Ward 16, Ramnagar Haraiya of 17 and Uttar Tamagadhi of Kolhawi Municipality.

Jitpur Simara Mayor Krishna Paudel says the federal government will send a team to choose the place. He informs that an integrated model settlement will be development for the locals.

Om Sharma, Chief of the Project, however, informs that his office has not received the allocated amount to relocate the settlement.
