NEPSE rises to 2,607 points; finance sector sees sharp decline

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 6.78 points on Monday, closing at 2,607. Trading volume saw a slight increase, with transactions totaling Rs 6.57 billion, compared to Rs 6.25 billion the previous day.

Prices of 118 companies increased, 117 declined, and 8 remained unchanged. The finance sector experienced the steepest decline, dropping by 2.53%, while the others sector rose by 2.13%.

Similarly, the banking sector fell by 0.20%, development banks by 0.60%, hydropower by 0.02%, and microfinance by 0.04%. On the other hand, hotels and tourism gained 0.12%, investment increased by 0.60%, life insurance by 0.04%, manufacturing by 1.68%, non-life insurance by 0.23%, and the trading sector by 1.06%.

Among gainers, Manushi Microfinance saw the highest increase, climbing 9.05%. River Falls Power rose by 7.7%, Dolti Power by 7.4%, Madhyabhotekoshi by 5.8%, Barahi Hydropower by 5.7%, Himalayan Power Partner by 5.6%, and Nepal Reinsurance Company by 4.84%.

Conversely, Vin Nepal Microfinance, Supermadi Hydropower, and Bhugol Energy witnessed a 10% drop. Nepal Finance fell by 7.15%, Janaki Finance by 6.97%, Narayani Development Bank by 5.97%, and Lumbini Development Bank by 4.55%.

In terms of transaction volume, River Falls Power, Himalayan Power Partner, NRN Infrastructure, Nepal Reinsurance Company, and Sindhu Development Bank led the market.
