Stock market rises after 6 days, turnover below 3 billion

Kathmandu, September 1

After falling for six consecutive trading days, the stock market rose on Tuesday. Compared to the previous day, the NEPSE index rose 9.24 points today. Following this increase, the NEPSE index stood at 2,522 points.

Trading volume declined. While the previous day saw turnover of Rs 3.64 billion, today’s turnover was Rs 2.89 billion. The share prices of 182 companies rose, 84 fell, and 11 remained unchanged.

Following last Wednesday’s severe flood, the sectors that had been under pressure in the market until the previous day turned positive today as well. The hydropower sector rose the most, up 1.01 percent.

Manufacturing and processing fell 1.00 percent. All sector indices other than manufacturing and processing rose. Banking rose 0.18 percent, development banks 0.11 percent, finance 0.25 percent, hotels and tourism 0.66 percent, investment 0.61 percent, life insurance 0.89 percent, microfinance 0.05 percent, non-life insurance 0.87 percent, others 0.54 percent, and trading 0.10 percent.

Upper Mailung Khola Hydropower Company’s share price rose the most, up 7.15 percent. Emerging Nepal rose 4.85 percent, Sanjen Hydropower 3.81 percent, Menchhiyam Hydropower 3.69 percent, and Mandu Hydropower 3.61 percent.

Upakar Laghubitta’s share price fell the most, down 8.48 percent. Ghorahi Cement fell 5.53 percent, CYC Laghubitta 5.39 percent, and Bhagawati Hydropower 5.27 percent.

Today’s most actively traded companies were, in order, Solu Hydropower, Shivam Cement, Aankhukhola Hydropower, Ridi Power, Sanima Middle Tamor, and Chilime Hydropower.
