NEPSE drops to 2,750 points as trading volume increases

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 24.97 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,750 points. Despite the drop in the index, trading volume increased from Rs 8.52 billion the previous day to Rs 9.13 billion today.

Share prices of 104 companies increased, 132 declined, and 8 remained unchanged. The trade group, which had seen significant gains in previous sessions, recorded the largest decline, falling by 8.72%, mainly due to a 9.17% drop in Bishal Bazaar Company shares.

Sectoral performance showed mixed results, with declines in banking, development banks, finance, hotels, life insurance, investment, non-life insurance, and other sectors. Gains were seen in microfinance, manufacturing, and hydropower.

Khanikhola Hydropower, Joshi Hydropower, and River Falls Power saw their shares surge by 10%. Ingwa Hydropower, Swabhiman Laghubitta, Upper Hewakhola Hydropower, Upper Mailungkhola Hydropower, and Suryodaya Laghubitta also posted significant gains.

On the losing side, Support Microfinance and Life Insurance Corporation shares dropped by 10%, followed by Bishal Bazaar Company, Nepal Finance, and Supermadi Hydropower.

In terms of transaction volume, Joshi Hydropower, NRN Infrastructure, Ankukhola Hydropower, Sanima Mai Hydropower, and Rasuwagadhi Hydropower were the most actively traded stocks.
