Nepal’s power utility requests consumers to note down meter reading, pay tariff on time

Kathmandu, January 26

After the arrest of its employees for involvement in meter tampering and electricity pilferage, Nepal Electricity Authority transferred 2,400 of its employees. The mass transfer of NEA staffers has affected electricity meter reading the most.

In view of this situation, NEA Chief Kul Man Ghising has appealed people to read the meters themselves, take the reading and pay power tariff at NEA offices concerned.

Prabal Adhikari, NEA spokesperson, said it will obviously take NEA employees some time to reach their new work stations and assume office. This means due date for paying power tariff may expire and customers may have to pay fine for delayed payment.

NEA has appealed customers to avoid fine by reading the meter themselves and paying the power tariff at NEA offices on time.
