Kathmandu, January 18
The Jumla distribution centre of Nepal Electricity Authority has announced a daily power outage (load shedding) schedule in the district to be effective from Sunday.
The power outage schedule comes at a time when people fear the return of load shedding that had been an everyday reality across the country until four years ago.
The distribution centre says it took the decision as it failed to meet the demand.
The distribution centre has divided the district into two groups. Whereas one group will not have electricity from midnight to 12:30 pm and from 9:30 pm to midnight every day, the other will lose access to electricity from 12:30 pm to 9:30 pm every day.
Jumla has not been connected to the national transmission line so far, and the consumers use electricity produced by local micro hydropower companies.
