Kathmandu, January 12
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that Nepal’s political transition is about to end. He said this during a meeting with Press Council representatives from Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Cyprus on Thursday morning.
The Press played a very important role in Nepal’s peace and Constitution-making processes, he said, describing the free Press as the main pillar of democracy and good governance.
Prachanda said: Nepal is at the last leg of political transition. The Press has played a big role in Nepal’s peace and Constitution-making processes. It would not have been possible to take these proceses to a logical conclusion without the Press’s positive contributions. We have a new Constitution in place and it has guaranteed full press freedom. The government is clear that Press is the main pillar of democracy and good governance.
