Nepal’s oldest Covid-19 case: 90-year-old man tests coronavirus positive in Pokhara

Kathmandu, June 16

A 90-year-old man has tested positive for coronavirus in Pokhara of Kaski on Tuesday. Most possibly, he has been the oldest Covid-19 patient of the country.

According to the Ministry of Health Population, there were not any Covid-19 patient in his/her 90s or above till yesterday.

A permanent resident of Waling in the neighbouring Syangja district, the man was residing in Pokhara, it has been learned. Just a few days ago, he had shared a hospital room with a 60-year-old man from Waling, who died of Covid-19 on Monday last week, according to Pokhara Community Hospital’s Dr Yukta Regmi.

Pokhara Health Science Academy, where the two old men were kept in the same room, has clarified that the 90-year-old man had tested negative for coronavirus during a test that time, and was discharged consequently.

Currently, his contacts are being traced, according to Gandaki Provincial Health Directorate’s Dr Binod Bindu Sharma.
