The Nepali Embassy in Manama, Bahrain says Nepalis living in the Middle Eastern countries are safe from the risk of coronavirus infection. Though the country has witnessed over three dozen confirmed COVID-19 cases as of now, no Nepali is infected, according to the embassy.

Around 35,000 Nepalis are working in Bahrain currently.

In a statement, the Nepali Ambassador to Bahrain, Padam Sundas, says the embassy is working with the Bahraini government to protect Nepalis against the infection. The local health ministry has issued various notices in Nepali targeting the Nepalis living there. Such messages have been posted on Facebook and Twitter pages of concerned government agencies.

Various organisations of the Nepalis in Bahrain are also active in disseminating information about prevention measures.

On the other hand, the embassy officials are in contact with labour officials of the country, the statement reads. Recently, they urged the ministry to ensure that all the workers were using a mask while working, the ambassador informed.

The ambassador has urged Nepalis not to panic citing the Bahraini government introduced various provisions including travel restrictions to protect the country from the deadly infection.
