Nepali tanker driver shot at, robbed of INR 4,500 in Raxaul

Birgunj, December 27

Two unidentified persons shot at a Nepali national at Raxaul, India, on Tuesday morning and robbed him of INR 4,500.

According to police, the two attacked the driver of the fuel tanker numbered Na 5 Kha 8845, Tula Ram Upadhyaya of Amlekhgunj-4, Bara, and robbed him.

Upadhyaya was supposed to deliver the consignment originating in Barauni of India to Pokhara, Nepal. The driver told Amlekhgunj police he retaliated when the two hit him on his head with a countrymade pistol at the place that’s three kilometres from Raxaul. Parsa Superintendent of Police Govinda Kumar Shah, quoting Upadhyaya, said the two attacked the driver on his left leg and robbed him.

The driver has sustained minor injuries in the attack.
