Kathmandu, February 4
A member of the House of Representatives has been accused of fraud. The Parliament Secretariat says it has recently received a complaint against Nepali Congress lawmaker Prabata DC Chaudhary.
Two cadres of her own party in her district of Dang have claimed that she defrauded them of Rs 800,000. Krishna Raj Pandey and Lila Bahadur Thapa said they filed the complaint to the party several times, but it was not addressed. Other people’s representatives of the district also informally say that Chaudhary demands ‘commissions’ from them assuring she would provide the state budget for development works in the concerned area.
Meanwhile, Chaudhary could not be contacted for comments.
An official at the secretariat says the secretariat received such a complaint for the first time, hence it is yet to decide how to respond to it.
