Nepalgunj, January 1
A woman attending a New Year Eve celebration at a hotel in Nepalgunj of Banke district on Sunday was raped by a drunken man attending the party, say police.
Niraj Gurung (43) from Surkhet district has been accused of committing the crime during the celebration at local Cygnett Inn Krishna whereas Sita Air’s Nepalgunj station manager Manoj Giri Bharati has also been arrested on the charge of turning an accomplice for the suspect.
The hotel’s shift manager Kapil Ranju has also been arrested for interrogation.
Giri Bharati had been staying at the hotel for a long and he had invited his friends including Gurung and the victim, preliminary investigation has revealed.
Acting Chief of the District Police Office, DSP Rajendra Aryal, says the victim telephoned police hiding at a bathroom after the crime and police had rescued her from the scene.
