In the final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 series in Scotland, Nepal defeated the Netherlands.
Nepal won the match by 16 runs after the Netherlands failed to chase the target of 237 runs. They were all out for 220 runs in 49.2 overs.
Wesley Barresi scored the highest for the Netherlands with 36 runs, followed by captain Scott Edwards with 30, and Michael Levitt with 27. Kyle Klein contributed 25 runs, and Noah Croes added 22 runs.
For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets, conceding 39 runs in 10 overs. Nandan Yadav also took 3 wickets, giving away 39 runs in 9 overs. Lalit Rajbanshi took 2 wickets, while Karan KC and Kushal Bhurtel claimed 1 wicket each.
Making his ODI debut for Nepal, Yadav delivered an impressive bowling performance. He took the wickets of opener Max O’Dowd, Roelof van der Merwe and Kyle Klein. All three were dismissed through catches.
Nepal, who lost the toss, scored 236 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs.
Aarif Sheikh scored the highest with 84 runs. He faced 85 balls and scored 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Similarly, Bhim Sharki and Captain Rohit Paudel each scored 35 runs. Kushal Bhurtel made 18 and Dipendra Singh Airee scored 16 runs.
For the Netherlands, Paul van Meekeren took 4 wickets, giving away 58 runs in 10 overs. Michael Levitt took 3 wickets and Aryan Dutt took 1.
Nepal had also won the previous match against the Netherlands. With this, Nepal has won 3 out of 4 matches in this series.
As a result, Nepal now has 12 points from 16 matches in League 2 and stands in seventh position. The Netherlands, with 26 points from 23 matches, is ahead on the points table.
