Nepal polls possible only after Constitution amendment, says Deputy PM Bimalendra Nidhi

Kathmandu, February 10

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi said on Friday the government will start election preparations only after taking the Constitution amendment process to a logical conclusion. Nidhi, who is also a Nepali Congress leader, said holding elections will be impossible without reaching an understanding with the United Democratic Madheshi Front.

Nidhi went on to claim that the government has made strides in the fields of crime control, peace and security. Addressing a programme in Kathmandu, Nidhi said the government is trying to reach understanding with opposition and disgruntled parties. He said the government is trying to create a conducive environment for elections.
