Minister for Health and Population, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, has claimed that Nepal is not at high risk of coronavirus infection.

Speaking in a meeting of the Legislation Committee in the National Assembly on Friday, minister Dhakal said the government efforts were effective enough to keep the country safe from the risk. He also appreciated that the citizens also supported the government’s decision of imposing lockdown.

“Among the 10 countries of Southeast Asia that had not reported any death due to Covid-19, Nepal is one,” he said, “In South Asia, we are in the third position after Bhutan, and the Maldives. We have progressed a lot from where we were yesterday.”

Meanwhile, minister Dhakal hinted that the government was preparing to relax lockdown restrictions after May 7. “We have to think in new ways. We have to gradually make it easy,” he said, “We need to consider significant sectors such as agriculture, industries, and others.”
